serena and lily {giveaway!}

A chance meeting between a textile designer and a savvy businesswoman and Serena & Lily was born. They've turned the children's world of design on it's side with spaces that are "fresh and style-driven, with dynamic color and pattern combination, timeless and comfortable through sophistication and simplicity."

In the last 6 years they've created the most beautiful of spaces, expanding to adult rooms, fabric and paint colors. Each collection is more breath taking than the last. Their products continue to evolve yet their design values stay the same "to maintain a sense of integrity and a visual standard that is authentic and original in a sea of copycats."

Today one Tangled and True reader will win their choice of the Desk Caddy and the Letter Pillow (a $100 value).

You'll choose one of eleven different designs to adorn your favorite desktop space. It will add the ultimate in design and function.

and the letter pillow which has long been a favorite of mine. The perfect finishing touch to almost any space.

Recently spotted these new chairs at Target. I like the design and the price.

gumdrop.

I was a huge fan of the soothie pacifier with both girls, aside from when it fell out of their mouth and rolled forever. I've recently heard that these gumdrop pacifiers are even better. I am a fan of the orange and will definitely be giving them a try.

to vbac or not?

v9 A29 concrete c????

So I realize this is a completely personal decision, but I wanted to hear your opinions, your voices, your experience. This is an amazing community of women... smart, talented women and what better place to go for advice than right here?

Lily was a regular birth and Stella was an unplanned C-section. I labored, did the whole bit and when it was time to deliver they realized she had a brow presentation. My water had broken so they couldn't turn her without possibly snapping her neck.

I was certain I wanted to do a vbac with this third baby, until I went to the doctor today to sign the forms. It was a scary experience to sign on the dotted line, saying that a vbac was what I wanted, that they were not liable should something go wrong etc. etc. not to mention his continual encouragement to schedule the C-section.

I feel that I have researched it out, I've weighed the risk and the vbac is a solid choice, but like I said I'm curious to hear your thoughts and experiences in this matter. For now, I have a scheduled C-section on my due date, but signed the forms and if I go into labor prior to the due date I can try for the vbac. It seems like a good compromise...

matchbox valentines.

Lily's Valentine party is today. She has been so excited. We found her the cutest vintage valentine's that lace-up. She loved lacing them and signing her name, but Stella was feeling a little left out of the Valentine fun. I saw these match box Valentine's on Design Moms blog and Stella and I went to town for her play group friends. I could make these all day. They are so easy, fun and adorable!

valentine's day surprises?

little brown pen pdf template available here $5.

All over blogland I have been seeing the different ideas for Valentine's day and yet, I haven't come up with anything for the Mister. This is so not like me, and I'm blaming pregnancy for my lack of creative genius in this situation.

Do you celebrate Valentine's Day in a big way, or in a small and simple way? Do you incorporate the whole family or keep it between you and your spouse? Do you have a tradition you follow every year, or switch it up? With the current economy are you cutting back this year or still going all out?

Mostly, I'm hoping you can Inspire me...

beaba babycook.

Look what Williams-Sonoma is now carrying. I like the idea of making my own baby food and knowing exactly what is in it and the quality. I wonder if I would really do it though. Thoughts? Have you tried making your own? Do you think you would if you had this appliance?

sour cream lemon cake... the best ever.

2 cups all purpose flour
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1 cup butter, room temperature
2 cups sugar
3 eggs
grated zest of 1 large lemon
1 cup sour cream

LEMON GLAZE
1/4 cup melted butter
2 T fresh lemon juice
2 cups sifted confectioners' sugar

Preheat oven to 325. Generously butter and flour a 10 inch bundt pan.

Into a bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder and salt; set aside.

In a mixing bowl with hand-held electric mixer, cream 1 cup butter and granulated sugar; beat at high speed until mixture is very light and fluffy, about 5 minutes. Beat in eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition and scraping down side of bowl frequently. Blend in lemon zest. Add flour mixture to the creamed mixture alternately with sour cream, adding each in 3 additions. Scrape sides of bowl frequently. Pour batter into prepared cake pan; bake in the preheated oven for 55 to 65 minutes, or until a cake tester or wooden pick inserted near the center of cake comes out clean. Cool in pan 10 minutes. Meanwhile, combine lemon glaze ingredients in a bowl, blending until smooth. Carefully turn cake out onto a platter; drizzle evenly with glaze.

Serves 12 or more, depending on size of servings.
