birthday ideas please.

Today is Finn's first birthday. Moving to Denver has thrown a loop in the celebrations. I'm supposed to be having a party for him this weekend. Theme suggestions would be greatly appreciated!! I'm running low on inspiration.

*Also, I'm looking to add a new feature here on T+T. Have you thrown an amazing party? One you think is worth documenting. I want to hear about it and possibly feature you and your photos. Email me (tangledandtrue@gmail.com). I can't wait to hear from you.

  1. Does he have a favorite something that could be a starting point for you? Or do you have a fun nickname that you could incorporate into the party? For instance, our son was always climbing on us and loved bananas so we had a monkey party for his first birthday. What about something as simplistic as balls or bubbles?

  2. I saw an idea for a MR. MAN party from this blog: http://vivafullhouse.blogspot.com/2009/06/blog-post.html a while ago, and thought it was really cute. I think it would work for any age! good luck!

  4. Oh! My baby is one this Friday. The grandparents are coming over, some aunties and uncles, too. Them is ultra simple: have a ball. Serving lunch and cake: a round layer cake with jumbo circle sprinkles. Tons of balloons, polka dot invites, favor bags filled with sour cherry round candies, and a giant beach ball (or more) to entertain the wee ones. Lunch will incorporate the circular theme, too, once I decide what we are eating. Homemade mac-n-cheese (circular pasta) with circle cut fresh fruits and veggies on the side? All coming off on the cheap and really quick!

  5. For my son's first birthday, we did a Pooh theme. Tried to draw Pooh on the cake, gave each little "guest" a board book, and had one game: pin the nose on Pooh. (The moms toddled their kids over to the poster of Pooh and tried to get the nose in the right place.) Other than that, just cheerios for the kids and snacks for the adults. (And make it short!)Good luck!

  8. We did a tiny party for my son's first birthday. Here is the link:

I got the idea from a friend of mine, but her blog is private. Also, I believe Martha Stewart has ideas for a tiny party.

I made tiny invitations. We served tiny food {carrots, cookies, dollar sandwiches, chips, mini water bottles}. We had mini cupcakes and a mini cake.

For decorations we had a tiny banner and balloons. For party favors we gave away tiny bubbles, playdough, m&m's.

I loved this party! It was so easy and so much fun to do all things tiny.

    Good luck!

  15. party can be really fun but can also be stressful. However, if you use a planning guide to assist with the plans, your party will be a spectacular party without all the stress that comes along with planning such a special event.
