downeast basics {giveaway!}

Do you know what I love about Downeast Basics? They update their styles monthly. Every time I browse, there are new items that I am dying to have.. and on top of the constant updating, they don't break the bank. I don't have to feel guilty buying something for myself. Lucky for you, Downeast is giving away the item of your choice to two lucky ladies!

Take this Dancer Top for instance. Available in carmine (shown) or white and only $24.99.

Looking for a perfect cardigan? Why not try the Longitude cardigan, cute and comfortable at only $34.99 you can't go wrong.

The Tulle Flower and Beads necklace is one of my favorites. The flower detaches and could be worn as an accessory all on it's own. Amazing right?

What item/s will you be adding to your shopping bag?

View all of their new arrivals here. So many perfect pick-me-ups to get you through to spring. How will you decide?

diy valentine bags.

I have a cute friend Andra, and every year she hosts a get together with her girl friends and they swap Valentine's. She didn't start hosting this genius get together until after I left the great state of Utah. I know.. sad. Every year I tell myself I will host one of my own inspired by her. This year may be the year, and these diy treat bags from Twig & Thistle just may be the motivation I needed.

Last years brownie bag brought back this year by popular demand.

This years treat bag design.

Aren't they perfect?

If you're looking for a sweet surprise for your little ones this Valentine's Day, I'd suggest taking a look at Bugga Bugs etsy shop. It is stocked full of amazing patterns for some of the best felt food I've seen.

Who wouldn't love to play with these? They are so well thought out and inexpensive to make. Give the gift of homemade this Valentine's!

major sale.

I know that you are all big fans of downeast. The reason I know is because their giveaways are always a smashing success, so what kind of friend would I be if I didn't let you know about the incredible sale they are having through Monday? Not a very good one. So here is the scoop. All kinds of clothes are on sale, and by entering FIFTYN2 at checkout, you receive an additional 50% off the already on sale clothing.

Remember this Spotlight dress? A lot of you really liked it. You can get it for just $17. That is a steal. So get busy shopping before sizes and styles sell out. I know that's whats next on my list!

*sale only applies to clothes already on sale.

**Downeast is sponsoring another giveaway with some of their new styles towards the end of the month, so keep checking back for your chance to win!

photo 101 (the book)

I am obsessed with looking at pictures, Nicole Hill has some of the best. Her shoots are consistently perfect and I find myself saying "oh I want a picture like that... and that... oh and that one too". If you haven't visited her blog or seen her pictures, you are missing out on some serious eye candy.

The exciting news is... she is now taking pre-orders for her new photo 101 book. The textbook covers manual exposures, composition, lenses, white balance, posing and natural lighting. Most importantly I'm sure there are some fabulous photos. It's definitely on my list of "must haves".

hopscotch rug.

I love catalogs. It's true. I love the glossy pages and feeling them in my hands. I like the styling and taking a few minutes all to myself to fold corners and pick all the things I think I need.

Look what I found in the CB2 catalog. I really really want it. I think it's the perfect rug for a playroom. Oh how the kids would love it, and it's my new favorite color of the moment. grey.

diy wall calendar.

seen here.

lush.

Have you been to Lush? If not, it is something everyone should experience.

First you can smell the store from a mile away. I'm not kidding and it smells SO good. Second there are a dozen friendly associates waiting to show you just how everything works and how truly amazing it all is. I hope you are prepared for a lengthy post..

Let's start with the bubble bars. We are the current owners of this the Flosty Gritter Bubble Bar. We'll just say the kids have been bathed more than ever since the purchase of their new favorite bubble bath. It glitters (not all do), makes the water pink, and gives them bubbles. The bar was $5.65 and we have already used it at least 7 times with more than half of it still left. You just crumble a small amount while running the water and voila, pink.. bubbles.. and the smell, it is heaven, and the whole upstairs smells like it, bonus for mom!

This lip balm is hands down the best I have ever used and I have gone through my fare share of lip balms. It is silky smooth and so moisturizing. It has been a lifesaver for me and the kids this winter. I can't say enough good things about it.

This has to be one of my favorite things they showed us during our store experience. It is so cool, and addicting. You will want to play with it, and your kids and husband will too. It's is like jelly, but it lathers up like soap. Use it in your shower or put it in a dish on your sink for guests to use. Once you switch to jelly soap, you may never want to go back to bar or liquid.. consider yourself warned.

If your hands are dry from all the hand-washing you do to avoid H1N1 and whatever else is floating around there, dream cream to the rescue! Your hands will be soft and moisturized in no time. The pot is completely recycled and you get rewards for bringing them back to the store when you're finished.
Sorry guys, there's just one more thing I have to share (though everything at the store is amazing). TheGlitterbug Sparkle Bar, rather than sprinkling yourself with glitter (and making a mess), you can rub it on with this moisturizing bar, no really.. it looks like a bar of soap but you rub it on your skin and you instantly have shimmery ultra moisturized soft skin. It feels like you've just applied lotion. My girls think this is the greatest thing ever (so do I because there isn't glitter everywhere).

Need to see it to believe it? Find yourself a store and pay it a visit, you'll be glad you did.

thank you.

I want my kids to each have their own personalized stationary. That way Thank You's and notes are quick and easy. I like the monster for Finn (not that he can write yet..but I could stamp his thumb print or something).

How do your kids say Thank You?

better than bunkbeds.

When I saw this picture tonight, I told Ryan that the girls needed a room like this.. to go along with the kitchen he is required to build me.

goodbye and hello.

I've never been more excited for a new year. Something has sparked within me, I've been contemplating for weeks now what I want to do differently. I am looking forward to 2010 and I'm happy to bid 2009 a fond farewell. Maybe it's my upcoming 30th birthday that has me all inspired to do more and be more.. there are so many things to accomplish by the time I'm 30. It's only 9 weeks away and I'm busy making my 30 by 30 list. That's right 30 things by the time I'm 30.

In the meantime.. I've set four categories for New Year's Resolutions this year.

1. Physical
2. Mental
3. Spiritual
4. Fun

I've been scrutinizing over what to put in each category, which goals are worthy, accomplishable, etc. I'll keep you you posted.

What goals are you working on? What things do you hope to accomplish? Do you have anything for me to add to my 30x30 list? I'd love to hear.

Cheers!

storybird.

Lily's kindergarten teacher sent home a homework assignment over the break that I loved! Storybird is a site where you and your kids can go and write your own stories (and it's all free!).

They have picture kits to choose from, you write the story and print them off into fabulous little books. The girls have loved making up their own stories and showing off their books. I love that they are using creativity and learning all while having fun. It's definitely worth checking out.
